PRAYER CONNECTS MERCY

Memorise:
Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to jerusalem with mercies; my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon jerusalem. Zechariah 1:16

Read:
Zechariah 1:16-21

Praying ahead of time is very ideal as it releases power to effect the desired changes on a given situation. When you have pre-prayed about a given situation, when its time of manifestation comes, you will require little or no prayer. But if you have been sleeping instead of praying, and the time of need arises, you may only engage in panic praying that may not go over the roof of your house. Invest in prayer today.

However, you may want to ask: is there any benefit from praying? Or what possibilities come through prayer? According to John 16:23-24, prayer facilitates the fullness of your joy. In other words, the measure of your joy depends on how efficiently you engage your prayer gear. That means that the amount of joy you have is a reflection of how you pray. Some people do not have an organised prayer life, they pray only when it is convenient, yet jesus says we ought to pray always. How often do you pray? Is your joy full and overflowing? If it is not, begin to pray until your joy is full.

From today's reading, prayer enables an individual to tap into God's available mercy. It is one thing for mercy to be available and another thing to benefit from it. Not everyone benefit from the mercy of God even when it is present. If you doubt it, ask Bartimaeus. With a crowd thronging our Lord Jesus Christ, nothing good was reported of them except of a blind beggar who knew how to pray.

At another time, a crowd followed Jesus and they were busy pushing the King of Glory, but again nothing good was reported of them except of how a woman who knew how to pray made her way through the crowd to touch the helm of his garment and she was healed instantly. Never take for granted that because you are in God's presence your problem will be solved especially in big meetings. If you want to tap from the divine current, simply connect with a prayer of faith.

Bible in one year:
1 Corinthians 1-3

Key point:
The mercy of God flows continuously in his presence, but it can only be accessed by an act of faith
