MIDWIVES ARE REWARDED

MEMORISE : And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14 : 3.

Can you dare to stand alone? Can you dare to stand on the side of God while the government is against you? The midwives of Exodus 1 fell out of favour with the government of the day but they did not care. As a result of their sacrificial obedience to God, they entered into favour with God and began to receive special divine care according to Exodus 1 : 20. In fact, verse 21 says,

“And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.”

This could mean those who were single and searching found their right spouses and got married. It could also mean that those who were married had peace and multiplication in their homes. Also, this could mean that tenants among them became landladies by divine favour and speed. Beloved, are people laughing at you while you are obeying the King of kings? Are they calling you a fool because you refuse to compromise like others are doing to succeed? Are people saying you do not know the shortcut to prosperity? Never mind. Stay focused on your God-given assignment! God did not forget the midwives; He will also not forget you. God gave them households. God will not forget you or your labour in soul winning!

In John 14 : 1 – 3, the Lord assures us that He is building mansions for us. Many years ago, the Lord took me in a vision to a place in a city beyond compare in beauty. I saw a house under construction which was massive and had many rooms. The labourers were busy working at it. When I asked the Lord who owns the house, He said, ‘Son, this is your house’, expecting that since there is no night in Heaven, when my children come to pay me visits, they will have rooms to stay. He said the building is still going on as long as I am winning souls. Beloved, whether people believe it or not, I know what I saw. I saw mansions in Heaven. I have seen my own building. The Lord is equally building yours. Are you committed to winning souls? Soul winners are so dear to God’s heart that He makes them relevant both in time and in eternity. How much have you worked for your heavenly reward?

WHAT KIND OF FLIGHT

Every genuinely converted believer in Christ is raised up and set up to sit in Christ Jesus in heavenly places. For such people, Colossians 3 : 1 – 4 should be their watchword. Since they are seated in heavenly places in Christ, they should have their eyes set on things that are above, they should also love and desire things that are heavenly. One reason a lot of Christians are not experiencing motion by flying and a reason why some others crash while flying is that they are still looking at the things of the earth, instead of heavenly things.

Looking at flying from a spiritual perspective, there are at least two ways to fly: with your own energy and with God’s energy. When birds fly, they usually spend their energy; but a man who travels by an aeroplane flies without any effort. He does not sweat, he eats and drinks, watches video and even has the luxury of using the lavatory while flying. He may strike a business deal with someone or he may decide to sleep, all while still flying. It is not enough to decide to fly; you must equally determine how you want to fly. In Exodus 19 : 3 – 4, when God was bringing the children of Israel out of bondage, He carried them on eagles’ wings. None of their individual or collective efforts could free them all these years, but when God intervened, He delivered them from bondage and placed them where the enemy could no longer touch them. Moreover, when a bird is flying, if it has any item to take to its destination, it would have to carry it with its beak. This is a form of load which could also act as drag on the bird while in flight. It is not easy to fly and at the same time carry a form of load. If such load is heavy, it will retard the speed of flight of the bird. However, if you are flying in an aeroplane and you have any luggage, the aeroplane will carry both you and your luggage. Isaiah 53 : 4 – 5 says that God is not only able to carry you, but also can carry your burdens. 

What are your cares today? What are the things causing worry in your heart? Lay them at His feet by prayer and leave them there. After telling the Lord, like Hannah, stop worrying about them from that moment.

ACTION POINT :

Cast your cares and burdens upon the Lord in prayers and watch Him bare you up on eagles’ wings.

In Exodus 1 : 15 – 16, we see that they have the power to kill or keep alive, and Pharaoh instructed them to use that power against newborn male Hebrew children. Midwives can kill or spare a new born baby by their action or inaction. At the point of a woman’s delivery, when she is about to push out the new baby, she is between earth and eternity. Many women never survive their deliveries as they go from childbirth into eternity. Usually, at that moment of delivery, a woman may not have known the sex of her baby, or whether the baby is dead or alive. It is what the midwives finally presents to her that she accepts as the fruit of her labour. Some midwives have used this power to play pranks, sell or exchange babies etc. If you have done so before, repent with all your heart asking for God’s forgiveness and go and restitute to those you have defrauded.

Do you know that these midwives can perpetrate a lot of atrocities? While reading this passage in Exodus 1, it suddenly dawned on me that it is possible that a good number of children said to be stillborn were actually murdered by the midwives. I have seen babies that were born with a dislocated hand because the midwife pulled the baby a little too hard. In the same vein, you are a divine midwife as a saved worker or minister of God. You can kill a new convert ever before he or she finds his or her feet, through your words and actions. This power at your disposal must be used to grow and establish converts in the faith of Jesus Christ. By your actions, you can help God to deliver babies into God’s Kingdom and by your actions, you can cause the newly saved to backslide. But for the grace of God, I would have gone back to the world because of the negative actions of some so called believers. Where do you stand today? Are you birthing or killing babies? How are you living your Christian life today?

OBEYING WITHOUT QUESTIONING

MEMORISE : But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. Jeremiah 7 : 23

God is a good and wonderful God but He is not a democrat. Democracy has its benefits but in God’s Kingdom, it has several limitations, hence God adopts a theocratic style of government. If you would be God’s favourite, you must learn to obey Him unquestionably. In 1 Kings 17 : 1 – 16, after Elijah announced the seizure of rain, God told him to go to Brook Cherith and that birds will feed him there. He went without asking any questions. If God tells you to go and preach at a particular location you hate to go, would you pretend as if it was the devil that spoke to you? Or would you ask: ‘Father, why me, why not somebody else?’ When the water at Brook Cherith dried up, and God said, ‘Go and meet the widow’, he did not question but simply obeyed.
Some people have become so learned, enlightened and refined to the point that they query God. They summon God to explain why He wants them to do what He asked them to, or else, they will not obey. If you taste what it means to be a divine favourite for one month, you will do almost anything just to remain His favourite.
Moreover, anyone who wants to be God’s favourite must be ready to spend quality time with Him. A couple who after marriage hardly spend time together, will after several years not be able to show the fruit of their union. The fruit of the Spirit is developed as you spend time in God’s presence, right in the midst of contrary circumstances. So also are the gifts of the Holy Spirit. If you want to heal the sick or raise the dead, first go and stay in His presence. There is hardly anyone who walked in the miraculous by the power of the Holy Spirit without being incubated by the Holy Spirit. Do you really want to be His favourite? Even if you are not presently His favourite, you can work your way into being one by the things you do from today. As you pay the price, the Lord will make you His favourite.

KEY POINT :
Obeying without questioning is the height of trust, while questioning before obedience is the height of mistrust.

KNOW YOUR POSITION IN CHRIST

WEDNESDAY 4 SEPTEMBER 2013

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : 2 SAMUEL 1 – 4.

The best category of motion is flying. When you fly, you experience fast unhindered progress. One thing to note here is that those who fly use a different medium and follow a different path from those using other categories of motion; they go through the air while the rest go on land. Motion through the airways is at minimal risk of collision with obstructions unlike motion on land which is laden with so many obstructions. Those who go by the airways are often closer to the first heaven – the firmament and as a result see more and think more on things above, while those who go by land see more of earthly things and think more on carnal things. Hence, Colossians 3 : 1 says, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” This scripture tells us of our spiritual placement, which is why we should be flying in the airways and not moving on land.

First, Ephesians 1 : 20 – 23 says after Jesus was raised from the dead, He was set up at God’s right hand in the heavenly places, far above all the hierarchies of the kingdom of darkness, and as a result, all things are put under His feet. Ephesians 2 : 6 further tells us,

“And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

In other words, just as Jesus was raised and set up in the heavenly places, so also have we been raised up and set up to sit with Him where He is. Praise God! No wonder He told us in Luke 10 : 19,

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

This means that just as He is above all evil powers, so are we; as He has them under His feet so do we, hence we should tread on them. You cannot tread on what is above you. Beloved, not many of us are flying because we have not received the revelations in these passages. If you catch this revelation of your true position in Christ, it will affect your motion in all areas of life.

MAKING GOD FULFILL HIS WORD.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY 3 SEPTEMBER 2013.

MEMORISE : And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. James 5 : 18.

READ :JAMES 5 : 16 – 18.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : 1 SAMUEL 29 – 31.

In 1 Kings 18 : 41 – 45, after the man of God heard the sound of abundance of rain, he spoke it out. Amos 3 : 8 says,

“The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?”

When God has spoken to you, then you should prophesy. You can declare what He has said except He tells you to keep it to yourself. Beyond declaring it, the man of God embarked upon intense prayer. But why pray when he had already heard from God and he knows what he had heard? Psalm, 115 : 3 says God does as He pleases. 1 Samuel 2 : 30 says the same God who earlier made a promise to Eli later revoked His promise. He can say something and because of certain circumstances He can say He is no longer saying so, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Elijah also knew of God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7 : 14, that if he approached God in reverence, humility and submission to His will, God will hear and answer.

This is one lesson we ought to learn today. Many times, we take for granted that because God has said something, He will surely do it. We refuse to follow-up on His promise. Some of us even do things that offend God, capable of changing His mind, yet we expect Him to remain committed to His promise. The truth is that in the process of time, many people have disqualified themselves from an earlier divine promise. Do you take time to pray God’s promises into manifestation? If God says He will give you victory over a particular enemy, hold Him by that promise until He fulfils it. But if it is something negative such as a judgment, go into prayer and fasting and humble yourself yielding completely to Him, so that He can reverse it. While holding on to God in prayer, ensure you do everything to please Him. Praise Him. Worship Him with your whole heart. Obey all His instructions and make Him happy. Keep totally away from sin and also remind Him of His Word. When you do all these, he will surely answer you.

ACTION POINT :

Thank God for what He has promised you. Now ask Him to bring it to pass today.
